    Chandigarh, February 4, : Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has called upon doctors, paramedical staff, government and non-government organizations and intellectuals of society to run awareness campaigns to prevent the spread of cancer disease. It will not only help society but will also reduce the number of cancer victims.

    Governor Shri Dattatraya in his message on the World Cancer Day today said that the number of cancer victims in the country can definitely be brought down by adopting a healthy and active lifestyle, taking part in sports and yoga activities. He said that treatment of cancer is also possible if the disease is detected early. In many cases, cancer can be completely curable.

    Shri Dattatraya said that many schemes have been introduced by the Central government for the treatment of cancer, whose benefits are being passed on to the people. He said that the Health Minister Cancer Patient Fund has been established in the country.

    Along with the schemes of the government, voluntary organizations have also created various funds through which cancer patients are being helped.

    Shri Dattatraya said the Haryana government has also taken several steps for the welfare of cancer patients. He said that the facility of free travel is being provided to the cancer patient and his attendant in the state transport buses.
