Distinguished Guests, Esteemed Faculty Members, Proud Parents and My Dear Graduating Students,
It gives me immense pleasure and pride to join you all at the Convocation Ceremony of the Sports University of Haryana, an institution that has rapidly emerged as a pioneering hub in sports education. Located in Rai, this university stands as Haryana’s first dedicated institution focused on nurturing talent through diverse academic and professional sports programmes.
In a relatively short period, the university has showcased an exceptional blend of dedication, discipline and vision. The impressive progress made here shows the collective efforts of the university’s leadership, faculty, staff and students.
Dear Students,
Global excellence in sports today is guided not just by physical ability but equally by scientific training, mental strength, nutrition, psychology and advanced technology.
I am pleased to see that the university has embraced a holistic model of training, ensuring that each athlete is prepared both physically and mentally to meet international benchmarks. This integrated approach has become a defining feature of the institution.
I commend the dynamic direction provided by Vice Chancellor Shri Ashok Kumar Ji, whose visionary stewardship has helped the university emerge as a national leader in sports education, producing not only athletes but also coaches, analysts, trainers and sports science professionals.
The outstanding achievements of the university’s student-athletes reflect the high-quality training and academic excellence provided here. Winning 61 medals, 13 of them gold, in national and inter-university competitions is indeed a commendable milestone.
These accomplishments illustrate the determination of our young athletes and reinforce that this university offers an environment conducive to world-class performance and long-term athletic growth.
Dear students,
I am happy to learn that the Sports University of Haryana is on course to become the third largest institution of its kind in the country. It signifies expanding trust in sports education and rising aspirations of young people seeking to excel both in academics and athletics.
The Government of Haryana under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini Ji is committed to building a comprehensive sports ecosystem that supports every athlete, coach and sports professional.
With India aiming to enhance its medal tally from 7 to 70 under “Mission Olympic 2036,” Haryana is striving to increase its own contribution from four medals to 36. I am confident that this university will be a driving force in achieving these national goals.
Today, 205 students receive their degrees including 8 graduates of the Master of Physical Education and Sports programme and 197 students from the Post Graduate Diploma programme.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each one of you. This moment brings pride not only to you but also to your families, your teachers, and the entire state of Haryana.
As I conclude, I have a special message for the graduating students. As you embark on the next chapter of your lives, remember that humility, discipline, inclusiveness and perseverance must remain your greatest allies. Uphold the values you have imbibed here, and contribute with sincerity to the inclusive progress of our nation.
I once again offer my warmest congratulations and wish you all great success in the years to come.
Thank You! Jai Hind!
