    Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatreya on Monday paid his tributes to former Prime Minister and people’s leader Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his third death anniversary, describing him as a true nationalist, patriot and an ideal statesman!

    Shri Dattatreya said that Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the ‘Ajatashatru’ of Indian politics, a scintillating personality, who as the country’s first non-Congress Prime Minister not only successfully ran the government with the cooperation of 23 other parties but also provided a strong leadership to the country.

    Governor Shri Dattatreya said that Vajpayee ji was instrumental in strengthening rural development, research and security apparatus of the country while expanding the road connectivity at the village level. During the tenure of his government, Vajpayee ji started four-lane roads, which set the ball rolling for the country infra empowerment.

    Referring to the way NDA government under the visionary leadership of Vajpayee ji brought telephone and air services to the reach of common people, Shri Dattatreya said that his landmark efforts ensure the supply of drinking and irrigation water in rural areas.

    “The people of the country still remember the development done during his tenure. He worked to strengthen the country in the strategic field by conducting the nuclear test in Pokhran. Under his able leadership, our brave soldiers hoisted the flag of victory in the Kargil war,” said Shri Dattatreya.

    Shri Dattatreya said that Vajpayee ji continued the process of establishing friendly relations with the neighbouring country, which was an unmatched move to ensure peace on the border. “It was during the tenure of Vajpayee ji that the Samjhauta Express train was run between India and Pakistan. The bus service between Delhi and Lahore was also started,” he said.

    Shri Dattatreya has appealed to the people of the country to take inspiration from the idealistic and struggling life of Vajpayee ji and work for the unity and prosperity of the nation by strengthening the values of peace, harmony and brotherhood along with promoting the spirit of patriotism.
