    Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya during the celebration of International Women’s Day at Raj Bhavan

    Chandigarh, March 8, 2022: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Tuesday said that women are playing an important role in building a new India. The welfare schemes of Central and state governments are proving effective in ensuring more contributions of women in nation building, Women empowerment has got a boost from these schemes of the government, he added.
    On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Shri Dattatraya congratulated and distributed sweets to women officers and employees in a function organized at the Raj Bhavan. He said that women have always had a prominent place in Indian society. Presently, women are doing much better and are empowering themselves by joining various services including agro processing activities.
    He said that education is an important tool to move ahead in life. Therefore, educated women should spread education in their families and nearby areas as well, which will pave the way for the progress of others as well.
    Shri Dattatraya said that women in Haryana have made their mark in sports, education, strategic and social sectors. Kalpana Chawla has become a role model not only for the women of Haryana but for the women of the world by going to space. All women should try to do better in their respective fields, which will increase their respect in the society.
    He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Central government has started many schemes to promote entrepreneurship in the country. Stand-up India and Start-up India have been launched to empower poor women, especially those from weaker sections of society like OBCs, SCs and STs.
    Shri Dattatraya also extended his warm greetings and best wishes to all the women of Haryana who have been honoured by the State government on the occasion of International Women’s Day. He said that women honoured on the International Women’s Day would inspire all women of the state to move forward in their lives.
    The Governor said that he was happy that three dozen women of the state have been honoured by the government on the occasion of International Women’s Day. All these women have set examples for other women by doing excellent work in various fields.
    Shri Dattatraya said that sports women, government employees, social workers, women entrepreneurship and Anganwadi women workers have been honoured by the state government for which the state government deserves appreciation.
