Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya at a function organized in the series of Azadi Amrit Mahotsav at the 10th Foundation Day celebration of Indira Gandhi University, Mirpur
Chandigarh, September 9, 2022: Education is an important tool to address the problem of poverty and unemployment. The focus of our universities should be on equipping our students with technology, research and innovations. They should also be taught about the importance of values, culture and social ethos.
This was stated by Haryana Governor-Chancellor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya while speaking as the Chief Guest at the function organized in the series of Azadi Amrit Mahotsav on the occasion of 10th Foundation Day of Indira Gandhi University (IGU), Mirpur, Rewari, on Friday. Union Minister Shri Rao Inderjit Singh was the Special Guest at the function.
Congratulating the university family on the 10th Foundation Day of IGU, Shri Dattatraya also hailed the heroic land of Rewari district. It is a matter of pride to be in Rewari, the land of great soldiers and patriots, who played a key role in the country’s freedom movement, said Shri Dattatraya. He also honoured the kin of Azad Hind Fauz soldiers on the occasion.
He said that the brave soldiers of Rewari scripted a glorious history by their valour and patriotism in the Rezangla War. It is a great land of martyrs like Rao Tula Ram, who will always inspire the youth to contribute their best to serve the nation, said Shri Dattatraya.
The Governor said that education paves the way for development. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given a great direction to the country’s development through the new National Education Policy-2020, where students will be able to study in their own mother tongues.
Union Minister Shri Rao Inderjit Singh said that Rewari has established its identity as the land of courageous and brave sons, and has also been at the forefront of education as well.
