Good governance is the governance which is based on sacrifice and dedication. Maryada Purushottam Ram was an ideal ruler, who left Lanka after capturing it and preferred to live in his own motherland Ayodhya, because own motherland is greater than heaven. Haryana Governor and Chancellor of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar, Sh Bandaru Dattatraya said this while speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion of a function on ‘Top Leadership and Governance: Towards National Building’ today. He said that Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology is growing fast by adopting innovation in the field of teaching and research. Present is the era of skill development. Youth can become self-reliant only by acquiring skills, he said. “We must make every possible effort to equip our students with relevant skills,” said Shri Dattatraya. Talking about the new National Education Policy 2020, the Governor said that this policy has been framed to promote innovation in teaching and added that the government is committed to implementing the National Education Policy 2020 by the end of 2025. The Governor and Chancellor of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar while visiting various departments, said that research should not be limited to ideas only. Keep working on this further. Take research to the level of patents through start-ups so that these can be useful to society, he said. “Make researchers self-reliant. By doing so, the country will also become self-dependent,” he said while talking to researchers at Pandit Deen Dayal University Computer and Informatics Centre. Manish Kumar, a research scholar from the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University, presented an artificial hand prepared by him to the Chancellor. The researcher informed the Chancellor that this hand will work like a real hand. Once fully developed, this hand will be the world’s cheapest hand of its kind, said Kumar. The Governor encouraged him to work continuously in this direction as it is a good idea. He said that youth should not work only for jobs but to become job creators. He shared ideas with the researchers about new techniques of agriculture like contract farming. Governor Sh Bandaru Dattatraya said that research and innovation play a significant role in the development of any nation. The Governor of Haryana also released the book of Gurpreet Saini on the life of Dr Hedgewar written in Punjabi, and the prospectus of Directorate of Distance Education and the brochure of Training and Placement Cell. He also felicitated the students of National Service Scheme. During the visit of Governor Bandaru Dattatraya to Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj Institute of Religious Studies, Dr Kishna Ram Bishnoi gave detailed information about the institute. Prof Devendra Kumar, Director, Dr Abdul Kalam Central Instrumentation Laboratory, apprised Sh Dattatraya about the state-of-the-art facilities of the laboratory. Prof Neeraj Dilbaghi, Department of Bio and Nano Technology, briefed the Governor about the research work and other activities of the department. Mukesh Arora, Director, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University Computer and Informatics Centre, highlighted the facilities of the centre. Prof Baldev Raj Kamboj, Vice Chancellor of the university, said that India is an ancient country with old tradition, civilization and value. Knowledge of our glorified and pristine history adds to good governance, he added. Prof Avnesh Verma, Registrar of the university presented the detailed report of the university. Prof Harbhajan Bansal, Dean Academic Affairs of the university, welcomed the guests, while Prof Deepa Mangla, Dean Students Welfare, proposed the vote of thanks. Shri Chandrashekhar, IAS, Commissioner Hisar, Dr Priyanka Soni, Deputy Commissioner, Hisar, were also present on the occasion.
