    Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya congratulated Smt Sharanjeet Kaur, Vice President and Chairperson of Haryana Welfare Society for Person with Speech and Hearing Impairment, Panchkula

    Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Monday congratulated Smt Sharanjeet Kaur, Vice President and Chairperson of Haryana Welfare Society for Person with Speech and Hearing Impairment, Panchkula, for being adjudged as the ‘Best Employer’ and honoured with the prestigious National Award by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

    Besides her, Ms Swati Jangid, Indian Sign Language teacher and Mr Akash Singh, an alumnus of the Society, have also been selected for the best award. The Governor has also congratulated them for their achievement. These awards were announced by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on Monday itself and all these awards will be presented on December 3, 2021 at a national level event organized on the World Disability Day.

    Appreciating the activities of the Society, Shri Dattatraya said that it is the first institution in the country where Indian Sign Language has been added to the curriculum two years ago. Along with this, a digital lab has also been established in Gurugram by the institution in which online education of sign language is being given not only to the deaf people of the state but also to them in other parts of the country.

    Shri Dattatraya said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given a separate language status to sign language in the country due to which children with speech and hearing impairment will get benefit and their talent will be properly utilized.

    Shri Dattatraya said that at present there is a need to provide facilities for higher education to these children. For this, he has appealed to the institutions to work further for them in the field of education so that they get employment in various fields. The chairperson of the society also presented shawls embroidered by deaf children of Gurugram centre to Shri Bandaru Dattatraya.
