‘Khelo India University Games’
Chandigarh, May 4, 2022: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has congratulated young players of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, and Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind for winning various medals at ‘Khelo India University Games’ organized at Bengaluru. By winning medals in almost all competitions, girls in particular have shown their talent and determination to excel in their lives, which is a matter of pride for Haryana, said Shri Dattatraya.
Shri Dattatraya said that Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, was among top seven while Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind, among top 15 in the medal list. Kurukshetra University has been the overall champion in four sports. It bagged a total of 39 medals, which include 10 Gold, 11 Silver and 18 Bronze medals. Similarly, the students of Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind won a total of 12 medals, which include 7 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.
Shri Dattatraya said that men’s and women’s teams of Kurukshetra University have secured first position in karate, archery, kabaddi (women) and boxing (women). Similarly, Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University’s men’s team secured third place in karate and women’s team secured second place in boxing.
Expressing happiness, Governor-Chancellor Shri Dattatraya said that students, their coaches, parents, university administration and all other supporting staff deserve best of appreciation for doing so well in the Khelo University Games event.
He said that Haryana has become an ideal state in the field of sports. This has been possible thanks to the Sports Policy of Haryana and the passion among youth towards sports. For this, the state government and Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal deserve heartiest congratulations. He also lauded the Vice Chancellors of both universities for the remarkable performance of their students in the event.
