I am really happy to release the book – Quality Fact Sheet and Recommendations – for the government and aided higher education institutions of Haryana. It has been prepared by the experts of NAAC.

I congratulate all of them for their involvement and commitment in preparing the report. I glanced at the report and came to know that it contains all the details of higher education institutions of Haryana, with a special focus on the status of higher education Institutions.

There are 51 universities in Haryana. 14 of them are accredited. Out of 267 government and aided colleges, 148 are accredited and 71 of them have got the valid accreditation.

The recommendations given to higher education institutions, state government and other stakeholders are very apt and will help quality enhancement of higher education institutions of Haryana.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In the context of the National Policy on Education-2020, some of the recommendations given in the book will give a lot of scope to improve the quality of government institutions.

The government institutions, though they are having certain limitations, are doing well with good governance and support by the state government.

They motivate students to acquire the basic skills and competencies so that they can also be accepted in the job market.

In order to ensure that students are well equipped with skills, an ecosystem needs to be developed on the campuses. Our higher education must be aligned to market needs and emerging job trends.

The focus must be to train our students to be job givers. Through entrepreneurship and incubation centres, a difference has to be made. Run of the mill approach will not work. We have to think out of the box and have to translate our thinking into tangible results.
Ladies and Gentlemen,

We all will agree to the fact that our resolve to realize the goal of ‘Ek Bharat, Sarvshrestha Bharat’ will be realized only when students from socially disadvantaged groups are supported financially and academically.

I reiterate here the fact that education is the first fatality of poverty. We must ensure that our students get quality education.

There are cases where students who have studied in government schools have occupied the highest positions in various fields.

Merit is a matter of nothing but of facilities, guidance and handholding. It is our social obligation to provide good infrastructure and other facilities to government institutions, where the majority of students study.

Number of admissions in professional courses should be enhanced in colleges and universities.

Similarly, hostel facilities for poor students should be guaranteed in all institutions of higher education.

I am glad to know that most aided institutions across the country are doing well by providing good infrastructural facilities and more emphasis on teaching-learning, leadership and governance and student support and progression.

In order to attract a greater number of students to their institutions, they showcase some good practices.

I think some of the best aided institutions should come forward to extend their support through their facilities to faculty members of government institutions.

I strongly feel that all universities in Haryana should go for NAAC accreditation. In the process of preparing for accreditation, universities will come to know their strengths and weaknesses. This in turn makes them introspect and set right their weak points.

In this context, I direct the state Education Ministry to give their support. I also request NAAC and its officials to conduct more handholding activities for higher education institutions of Haryana so that they can achieve quality mandates in line with National Education Policy-2020.

I expect Haryana to be a leading state as far as education is considered. The state has marched towards modernity by leaps and bounds.

Haryana is among the most prosperous states in India, having one of the highest per capita incomes!

I am very sure that in the coming years, the education scenario of Haryana will further change as more and more higher education institutions will be accredited.

I call upon the Education Minister, State Secretary, and Department of Higher Education and the administrators of higher education to come out with an action plan to further raise the standard to meet the challenges of employability in the national as well as in the international market.

I appreciate the leadership, commitment and great vision of Prof Sharma, NAAC Director, for his continuous effort in covering a greater number of higher education institutions under the accreditation process.

I also thank NAAC officials Dr BS Ponmudiraj, Dr S Sreenivasa, Dr S Srikanta Swamy, Dr Ruchi Tripathi, Dr N R Mohan and Dr Neelesh Pandey for organizing this programme.
