    3rd Convocation Organized by J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad

    Haryana Governor Sh Bandaru Dattatraya today emphasized the need to impart skills to youth as per the global demand and local needs, and said that the universities would have to focus on introducing skill-based short-term training courses through industrial partnership so as to enable them to take the advantage of opportunities available in the job market. He said that such courses should be prepared keeping in mind the youth of rural areas. Sh Bandaru Dattatreya was addressing the third convocation of JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, today. Presiding over the convocation as the Chancellor of the University, Sh Dattatraya awarded the degrees, medals and certifications to the students and scholars of the university in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof Dinesh Kumar. The Chairman of National Board of Accreditation Prof KK Aggarwal was the guest of honour and delivered the convocation address. During the convocation, the Governor also released the Kulgeet of the University. Vice Chancellor Prof Dinesh Kumar delivered the welcome address and presented the Annual Report followed by the opening of the convocation ceremony by the Chancellor Sh Bandaru Dattatraya. impart skills to youth On this occasion, the Chancellor also conferred honorary degrees on prominent aerospace scientist Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and successful business leader Mr. Navin Sood, the Chairman of Vee Gee Industries, Faridabad and an alumnus of YMCAIE now known as JC Bose University, as a mark of respect for their distinguished achievements. As many as 750 students and research scholars, out of 1210 qualified, who have completed their degrees in the year 2021 were conferred degrees by the Chancellor. Among them, 672 under-graduates and 494 post-graduates students and 44 research scholars were eligible degree holders.

    The representation of girl students in the convocation was encouraging. Out of 1166 passing out students in all the courses, there were 604 girls at undergraduate and post-graduate level. Similarly, there were 26 female researchers of 44 in PhD and out of total 44 gold medallists; there were 35 female gold medallists. Expressing pleasure over the greater representation of girls compared to boys in the convocation, Sh Dattatraya said that it is a good sign which proves that girls are leading in every field. Encouraging the students for entrepreneurship, Sh. Dattatraya said that most of the youth passing out from higher educational institutions in the country aspires for government jobs, but the government cannot give jobs to everyone. The youth have to skill themselves so that they can make themselves employable. They have to be job creators, not job seekers. Sh Dattatraya said that this University, The Chairman of National Board of Accreditationwhich was established in the year 1969 as an Indo-German Project as diploma institute, has contributed significantly in making the youth of the country skilled and entrepreneurs. It is a commendable step by the Haryana Government to name this institute after the great scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose. The Governor also appreciated the efforts of the University in the social concern. Describing the National Education Policy-2020 as an important step towards skilling the youth, Sh. Dattatreya said that this is the policy which will alleviate unemployment and poverty. It has laid emphasis on education based on industrial needs and technology. The provision of vocational education has been made at the primary level and importance has been given to mother tongue, regional language and local language. This is the first time in 60 years when an education policy has taken the initiative of teaching-learning in the regional languages. Accordingly, PhD and Technical Courses will soon be started in Hindi language in the State. He said that the Haryana Government is going to implement the National Education Policy by the year 2025, for which the Chief Minister deserves appreciation. He said that the state universities would have to work for effective implementation of the policy in the next 4-5 years.
