World Breastfeeding Week
Mother’s milk is the best food for the babies. It strengthens their immunity. So all mothers must breastfeed their children for the first six months. This was stated by the Governor of Haryana, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya in his message on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week today.
He said that World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated from 1st August to 7th August all over the world. In Haryana also, this week is being celebrated to create awareness about breastfeeding. Various programs are being organized in the state by the Health Department, the National Health Mission Haryana, and Women Welfare Department throughout the week to create awareness regarding breastfeeding.
Shri Dattatreya has appealed to the general public to join the week-long breastfeeding awareness programs and spread the importance of breastfeeding in the society. He said that children are the future of the nation. We all have the responsibility to ensure all round development of the children, he said.
The Governor said that there is no other alternative to breastfeeding. Breast milk reduces the risk of non-communicable diseases among infants even at a later stage of their lives and promotes the mental development of children. He said that if the children are healthy, then they will grow up and become healthy citizens and will be able to play an important role in the nation-building mission.
