    Chandigarh, July 19, 2022: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya, while wishing the people of the state on the occasion of the 73rd Van Mahotsav today, has appealed that every person should plant a sapling and should take care of it so that it grows well.

    He said that forests are an important source of food, fuel, fodder, medicines, natural beauty and life giving oxygen. Forests play a critical role in maintaining the balance of the environment. The survival of humanity and other living creatures depends on forests, said Shri Dattatraya.

    The Governor said that the Haryana government is committed to providing a clean environment in the state. For this, the government has set a target of planting 2 crore saplings in the state this year.

    To increase the green area in the state, plantation of saplings is being done on Panchayat and other available land and on the banks of 2200 ponds across the state. He said that it is an important duty of every citizen to protect forest and natural resources for our sustainable development.
