Chandigarh, September 17, 2022: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Saturday stressed the need for giving love and affection along with medicines and nutritional supplements to the patients of TB so that they recover soon.
The Governor was speaking at the launch of the Prime Minister’s TB Free India campaign organized by the Health Department at Panchkula today.
Shri Dattatraya said that a TB-free Haryana would lead to a TB-free India. Doctors of our state should properly take care of TB patients, he said, while adding that our hospitals should be as clean as a temple because cleanliness ensures quicker recovery of patients.
He said that the launch of the TB-free Haryana campaign on the birthday of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji send an encouraging message to the people of the state in combating the disease and make India free from TB by 2025, though the World Health Organization (WHO) has set the year 2030 as the deadline.
The Governor said that doctors of the state worked hard and treated the patients even during Covid-19 pandemic. In Haryana, about 4.50 crore people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 so far and about 216 crore doses have been given in the country so far.
He said that Prime Minister Shri Modi strongly feels that the country whose citizens are healthy, that country will always progress. That is why he has set the target of making India TB free by the year 2025. ‘Nikshay’ friends will play an important role in the fulfillment of this goal. He also called upon all to become ‘Nikshay Mitras’ to take care of TB patients in the state.
Haryana Raj Bhavan today adopted five TB patients and provided them with medicines and nutritious food kits. During this, Shri Dattatraya also honoured many social service organizations and people including Vishwas Foundation, Rotary Club, Alkher Educational Trust, Mewat, for helping TB patients.
Haryana Health Minister Shri Anil Vij, while speaking through a virtual medium, said that we have proper infrastructure, hospital and laboratories for the treatment of TB patients. One 100- bedded TB hospital is being built in Ambala city where the patients can be treated better. He said that our doctors are working hard to meet Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s target of TB-free India by 2025.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Smt G Anupama asked the Deputy Commissioners of the state to extend their full cooperation in making the state TB-free and give priority to the patients to avail the benefits of government schemes as per their requirement. She said that if the cooperation of doctors and other people continues to boost the morale of the patients, then they will recover soon. TB disease is not an incurable disease. If the patient continues to take medicines and supplements regularly for three to six months, then this disease is cured forever.
Welcoming Governor Shri Dattatraya, Director General of Health Services, Dr Veena Singh said that the departments are determined to meet the target TB-free Haryana by 2025. For this, we need full cooperation of the political, administrative and public community.
Director General, Health, Sonia Trikha said that efforts will be made to identify new patients and reduce the mortality rate by 90 per cent. On this occasion, Secretary to Governor Shri Atul Dwivedi, IT Advisor to Governor Shri Bhanu Shiv Shankar, Deputy Commissioner Shri Mahavir Kaushik, Police Commissioner Shri Surendra Pal Singh, other officers and esteemed guests were present.
