Chandigarh, June 12, 2024: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has said that children are the future leaders of our nation, and it is our moral duty to provide them with the right kind of upbringing and education in sync with the fast changing dynamics of the world.

The Governor was addressing the state level award distribution function organised by Haryana State Child Welfare Council at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector 5, Panchkula, today. He honoured 383 children who topped 18 different types of competitions organised on the occasion of Children’s Day in all the districts of the state. These included 303 girls.

The Governor congratulated the children who received the award and wished them a bright future. He said that running open shelter homes, coaching and guidance classes for poor and needy children is a good sign for the future. The officials of Child Welfare Council should not only provide morality and self-reliance education to the children but also help them in becoming self-reliant, he said

The Governor said that when he was the Labour Minister at the Centre, he had made a law prohibiting the use of children below 14 years of age in any work. Making children work is a great sin. The rights of children should be protected by creating awareness about it, he added.
