Chandigarh, December 28, 2022: Hon’ble Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Wednesday said that being righteous, ethical, brave, patriotic and showing respect for all irrespective of their caste and religion will be a true tribute to Sri Guru Govind Singh ji.

In his message to the people of the state on the eve of jayanti of Sri Guru Govind Singh Ji, Shri Dattatraya said: “As a true tribute to Sri Guru Govind Singh ji, every citizen should develop the quality of righteousness, ethical values, bravery and patriotism.”

People should be responsible and dutiful toward society; they should respect all. We should not have high or low caste feelings. This is how we can pay our homage to Sri Guru Govind Singh ji who made great sacrifices to protect the country’s dharma and its people from the brutalities of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, he said.

Shri Dattatraya said that Sri Guru Gobind Singh was 10th Guru of the Sikhs. He was also a great philosopher, eminent poet, fearless warrior, skilled commander, great writer and connoisseur of music.

The Governor said that in 1699, on the day of Baisakhi, Sri Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa Panth and made five persons ‘Panj Pyare’ by tasting nectar. His vision behind the ‘Panj Pyare or Five Beloved Ones’ was to establish the supremacy of those who were pure and liberated ones in sync with the spirit of Khalsa.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji taught us not to deviate from good deeds no matter what the result may be. It is known from his thoughts and speeches that Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji worked to unite the society by giving the message of karma, equality, fearlessness, freedom, justice and fraternity, he said.

He never compromised on human and moral values. As we are now in Amrit Kaal, we need to follow the path shown by Sri Guru Govind Singh ji and strengthen the values of brotherhood, co-existence and togetherness to build a new India, which is much stronger and inclusive, added Shri Dattatraya.
