The Governor said that Haryana has always stood tall in the annals of Indian history for its valour and patriotism. From the battlefields of ancient times to the freedom struggle and beyond, the soil of Haryana has produced legendary heroes who dedicated their lives for the nation.

Remembering with reverence the martyrdom of Rao Tularam of the state’s Ahirwal region, who emerged as a symbol of courage and resistance during the First War of Independence in 1857, Governor Prof Ghosh said: “His indomitable spirit and fearless leadership continue to us.”

“Along with him, countless other sons and daughters of Haryana fought with unparalleled bravery against colonial oppression and later defended the nation’s frontiers with utmost devotion,” the Governor stated.

He further said that the Ahirwal region, renowned for its martial traditions, has given the country a large number of gallant soldiers and martyrs. Their sacrifices form a proud chapter in the state’s history and reinforce the legacy of Haryana as the land of heroes.

On the eve of Haryana Shaheedi Diwas, the Governor called upon the people, especially the youth, to draw inspiration from the courage, patriotism and selfless service of the martyrs. “The best tribute we can pay to our fallen heroes is to strengthen the spirit of unity, harmony, and nation-building for which they laid down their lives,” he said.

Governor Prof Ghosh expressed deep gratitude to the families of the martyrs and exhorted citizens to keep alive the memory of their sacrifice. “Haryana Shaheedi Diwas is not only a day of remembrance but also a reaffirmation of our collective duty to uphold the values of freedom, justice and national pride,” he added.
