Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Friday called upon the youth of the state to come forward in large numbers to voluntarily donate blood and help the patients in need.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at SD College, Ambala, on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Shri Dattatraya praised the blood donors from different parts of the state, who had joined the celebration.
The Governor said that the World Blood Donor Day is being celebrated today to promote voluntary blood donation all over the world. Haryana Red Cross has played a special role in the field of blood donation, he said.
On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, one thousand 93 units of blood were collected by organizing 38 blood donation camps in a single day in 22 districts of the state. “This is a very commendable work done by the Haryana Red Cross Society,” he said.
He said that Haryana Red Cross is working with a spirit of service and has won many awards at the national level. While felicitating the women who have donated blood at least 10 times, Shri Dattatraya said: “Their felicitation will inspire more people to donate blood and will boost the morale of social organizations.”
Minister of State for Sports Shri Sanjay Singh, former Home Minister of Haryana and current MLA of Ambala Cantonment Shri Anil Vij, Haryana Red Cross General Secretary Dr Mukesh Agarwal, Ambala DC Dr Shalin, Red Cross Vice Chairperson Dr Sushma Gupta, and other esteemed dignitaries were present on the occasion.
