    Chandigarh, April 9, 2022: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has said that thoughts, behaviour, teachings and ideals of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas ji will continue to guide the society for ages to come. Today people should take a pledge to end evils like religion and caste-based discrimination and untouchability by following the path shown by Guru Shri Ravidas ji.

    Shri Dattatraya was speaking as the Chief Guest at the National Convention and National Executive Committee meeting organized by Sri Guru Ravidas Vishwa Mahapeeth at Sri Guru Ravidas Temple and Dharamshala, Kurukshetra on Saturday. He also announced Rs 10 lakh as financial assistance to the Mahapeeth while Himachal Pradesh Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar announced an amount of Rs 5 lakh from his voluntary fund. Shri Dattatraya also inaugurated the ‘Samajik Samrasta Bhawan’ of the Mahapeeth.

    The Governor said that Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas ji was forgiving, prudent and a true teacher of society. He was one of those great souls whose thoughts, behaviour, qualities and teachings would continue to guide the people for ages to come. Shri Guru Ravidas ji adopted the path of devotion in his life to rid the society of evils like caste-based discrimination and untouchability. He showed humanity the true way of life by preaching the values of equality, justice and fraternity.

    The Governor said that there was no difference between actions and words of Shri Ravidas. What he preached to the public, he himself adopted it in his life. He said that there should be no place for fear and hunger in humanity. Adopting the principle of ‘Karma’ of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta in his life, he gave the message to his followers to always do auspicious deeds.

    Himachal Pradesh Governor Shri Rajendra Arlekar said that following the footsteps of Sant Shri Guru Ravidas ji, Sant Kabir Das ji, Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji and Mahatma Gandhi also fought vigorously against untouchability and inequality. Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, was greatly influenced by the thoughts of Sant Shri Guru Ravidas ji and Sant Kabir Das ji. Inspired by the teachings of Guru Ravidas ji, Maharaj, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi implemented an inclusive education policy.

    On this occasion, Governor Bandaru Dattatraya along with Himachal Pradesh Governor Shri Rajendra Arlekar, Mahapeeth International President and MP Shri Dushyant Kumar Gautam, Mahapeeth National President and former Minister Shri Suresh Rathore, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri A Narayana Swamy, Haryana Cooperation Minister Dr Banwari Lal, Bihar’s Mining Minister Shri Janakram, RS MP Dr Sikandar Kumar, former MP Shri Atma Ram Parmar, Thanesar MLA Shri Subhash Sudha, Mahapeeth’s National General Secretary Shri Surajbhan Kataria and Shri Suraj Kumar lit the lamp at Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas temple.
