Chandigarh, January 24, 2023: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has called upon all stakeholders to come together to provide the best of facilities to girls as they have the tremendous potential to contribute to all round and all inclusive growth of the state and the country.
“From education, health, entrepreneurship, defence, politics to sports, our daughters are doing an incredible job, proving beyond doubt that they are in no way inferior to anyone and can do much better if provided with the right kind of support,” said Shri Dattatraya in a statement on the occasion of National Girl Child Day.
Referring to the great accomplishments of girls of Haryana, Governor Shri Dattatraya said that they have become role models for all – whether sports, defence or education – they are leaving an indelible mark worth emulating for all.
He said that our daughters are very efficient, and if provided with the right kind of support ecosystem, they will do wonders. India has produced many great women role models like Savitribai Phule, Indira Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj, Nirmala Sitharaman, Kalpana Chawla, PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, and Karnam Malleswari to name a few.
There is no dearth of women talent in Haryana as well. For example, Rani Rampal; Geetika Jakhar, wrestler; Deepa Malik, athlete; Sakshi Malik, freestyle wrestler; Phogat sisters; Krishna Poonia, an international gold-medalist Indian discus thrower; Manpreet Kaur, professional Olympic shot putter; and Santosh Yadav, first woman in the world to climb Mount Everest twice and the first woman to successfully climb Mount Everest from Kangshung Face, he said.
Special efforts including affirmative measures have been initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji at the national level and by Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal in Haryana to uplift women in a wholesome manner. ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan’ (BBBPA) has proved a blessing in disguise. It has a great impact on improving child sex ratio.
The Haryana Governor said that girls have a huge potential for skills, arts, management, and concentration, discipline and determination of leadership to lead us on multiple fronts. What is needed is an ecosystem, which encourages them without any discrimination, said Shri Dattatraya.
