    Chandigarh, March 10, 2022: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has said that the courses and programs should be started in universities and educational institutions to build leadership capacity among women with the aim of their holistic empowerment. He said this while talking to newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonepat, Dr Sudesh Chhikara, who made a courtesy call on Governor-Chancellor Shri Dattatraya at Raj Bhavan today.

    Shri Dattatraya said that 50 per cent reservation has been given by the state government for women in Panchayati Raj Institutions. There is an encouraging participation of women in various other services as well. It is, therefore, necessary that the spirit of leadership should be inculcated among women so that they can do better work in their respective fields.

    With the start of new courses, women will move forward in the field of Panchayati Raj Institutions, entrepreneurship and will also have the idea of their strengths and talent in their respective fields. Academic programmes on martial arts and safety of women should also be started. He said the skill programs should also be started to encourage women in the field of entrepreneurship and self-employment. By giving such training to women, a sense of self-confidence will increase in them.

    The Governor-Chancellor said that today there is a need to start Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Service, Industrial Internet, Robotic Automation or other such courses. Universities and educational institutions will have to focus on startups of girl students by setting up incubation centres on their campuses.

    To create an environment conducive for start-ups, universities and educational institutions should take the help of their own alumni and successful women entrepreneurs. With this, the girl students will not have to face the problem related to employment after completing their degree, said Shri Dattatraya.

    Dr Sudesh Chhikara, newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, said that many courses related to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and Data Services have been started in the university. The provision of education from KG to PG has already been started in the university. She also said that all provisions related to women in the new National Education Policy will be implemented.

    Giving information about Yoga and Ayurvedic education in the university, she said that more courses and programs would be started in the field of Ayurveda, and the existing courses will be strengthened further.
