Chandigarh, December 23, 2021: Haryana Governor-Chancellor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has stressed the need for natural farming, which will give a new direction to farmers and farming in India. Recently natural farming has gained importance not only in India but across the globe. Minimal use of chemicals is the need of the hour, said Shri Dattatraya while speaking as the Chief Guest at Haryana Agriculture University (HAU), Hisar at a function organized on the occasion of Kisan Diwas, today.

Shri Dattatraya praised HAU scientists, researchers and students for their innovations, which have made agriculture not only more profitable but have also made the life of farmers and farm workers much easier. He said that prosperity of the nation depends on the progress of rural areas. Former Prime Minister Late Chaudhary Charan Singh was always concerned about the well being of weaker sections of society including farmers and worked hard for their betterment.
The program was presided over by HAU Vice Chancellor Prof BR Kamboj. Earlier Shri Dattatraya paid flower tributes to former Prime Minister Late Chaudhary Charan Singh and Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “Late Charan Singh believed that the nation can prosper only when the rural area is developed and the purchasing power of rural people increases,” said Shri Dattatraya.
He said that the day when Late Chaudhary Charan Singh took oath as the 5th Prime Minister of India, there was a wave of happiness among farmers, Dalits and other backward people of the country because on that day they felt their participation in power.
Seeing a large number of women in the auditorium, the Governor-Chancellor praised them and emphasized that they should be entrusted with the responsibility of taking decisions for households and other agricultural works. This will increase their confidence on one hand and will strengthen the economy of the country on the other.
Shri Dattatraya said that 25th December is the birth anniversary of Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, former Prime Minister of the country. He said that Vajpayee ji had a lot of respect and affection for farmers in his heart and always thought about their upliftment. He stressed on connecting farmers with science and took forward the slogan of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ by giving the slogan of ‘Jai Vigyan.’
While felicitating 19 progressive women farmers of the state, Shri Dattatraya expressed happiness that the number of women farmers in the auditorium is commendable. Today women are moving forward. Women have an important role to play in a changing society. In the future also, women will continue to have their say in various fields including agriculture.
