    Governor-Chancellor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya addressing faculty members and students of MDU, Rohtak

    Chandigarh, September 3, 2022: Haryana Governor and Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak (MDU) Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed Faculty Development Centre (FDC) building of the university. He also gave away the Research Promotion Incentive Awards and Best Research theses Awards to faculty members and researchers of the university.

    Governor-Chancellor Bandaru Dattatraya in his address said that cutting edge research for the welfare of mankind is the need of the hour. He said that teachers must prepare the right ecosystem for innovation, research, and technology development.

    He congratulated the research awardee teachers and researchers of the university, and gave best wishes for their future research endeavours. He expressed the hope that the Faculty Development Centre (FDC) will become an active hub of academic activities, and help in facilitating professional development of the faculty members.

    Hon’ble Governor-Chancellor also appreciated the way the start-up culture was picking up in Haryana. Around 4,000 start-ups in Haryana as of June 2022 have been recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

    Shri Dattatraya said that he was extremely pleased with the performance of the female students in the field of research and development. Today three female researchers were honoured with gold medals, three with silver medals and one with bronze medal, while 23 female students received certificates. Out of a total of 42 awards and certificates, 32 of them went to female researchers.

    Rohtak MP Shri Arvind Sharma also spoke on the occasion and congratulated the university for its outstanding achievements. Nineteen faculty members were felicitated with Research Promotion Incentive Awards, 15 faculty members for their extra-mural research and development projects, and 42 researchers were felicitated under the Best Thesis-Gold Medal, Silver Medal, Bronze Medal and Certificates for their research contribution in today’s function.

    MDU Vice Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh in his address highlighted the developmental strides of MDU. He said that the university is making rapid progress in academics, research, social outreach, sports and literary-cultural fields.

    Director, Faculty Development Centre, Prof Surender Kumar delivered the welcome address. Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof Nov Rattan Sharma threw light on the research promotion policy of the university. Registrar Prof Gulshan Lal Taneja proposed the vote of thanks.

    Notably, the Faculty Development Centre has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.5 crore. This FDC project was granted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Deans of faculties, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and university functionaries were present on the occasion.
