Chandigarh, 22 August. “Entrepreneurship plays an important role in developing and strengthening the economy of any nation. India has been an incubator for innovations and entrepreneurship for centuries. Today innovations are needed to promote entrepreneurship again in the country. For this skill has to be promoted in every field. Keeping this objective in mind, the new National Education Policy-2020 prepared under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given special focus on skill, employment oriented and vocational education. 21st century will be the century of India and Entrepreneurs will play an important role in this. Governor and Chancellor of Kurukshetra University Bandaru Dattatreya said this while speaking as chief guest in Entrepreneurship Encouragement Programme organized by Youth Red Cross, Kurukshetra University on Monday under Swawlambi Bharat Abhiyan in the KU Auditorium.
India is a country of youth. 65 percent of the population is youth. The possibilities of sustainable development in entrepreneurship can be increased only by providing skills to the youth. In our country, 93 percent number is of unorganized workers, due to which the working class is deprived to take advantage of the schemes of the government. The workers can be connected with the organized sectors only by increasing the skills in the country,” further added Governor.
The National Education Policy envisages holistic, future-oriented, job-oriented and skill-oriented education. Kurukshetra University is doing lot of work in the area of incubation, start-ups, skill development and entrepreneurship, said Governor.
Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal said that no country can progress economically without the development of entrepreneurship. Many economic and social problems, such as poverty, unemployment, wealth inequality, low productivity, low standard of living can be got rid of by the development of entrepreneurship. At present, there is a population of 37 crore youth in the country, which is an invaluable asset for us, who have to become job providers instead of job seekers.
Renowned economic expert and sahsangathak of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Satish Kumar said that Haryana is the most suitable place for entrepreneurship and self-employment. Due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manohar Lal, we are moving fast towards entrepreneurship and self-employment. From the land of Bhagvadgita, we need to spread a message of Swadeshi and self-reliance to the whole world.
Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University Prof Som Nath Sachdeva while welcoming the guests, said today self-employment is a big challenge for the country, but the government has accepted this challenge and schemes are being implemented to bring the country forward again in the field of entrepreneurship and self-employment. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Manohar Lal, 90 programs have been organized in 22 districts on World Entrepreneurship Day so that the young generation can be motivated for self-employment.
On this occasion Governor Bandaru Dattatreya honoured successful Entrepreneurs of Kurukshetra University including Padma shri Sultan Singh, Arun Goyat, Ramesh Mehta, Meenakshi Nehra Bhatt, Simran Singh, Seemantini Khetarpal, Harish Sachdeva and Anil Jain. Governor also presented a cheque of Rs 25 lakh to Entrepreneurs Prashant, Nikhil and Ajay Kumar from RUSA II of Kuruksheta University.
Earlier the Governor inaugurated a Computer Building Block of the KU Girl’s Hostel, distributed sanitary pad incinerators to adopted villages of KU and inaugurated an exhibition on ‘Atmnirbhar Bharat’.
On this occasion MP Nayab Saini, MLA Subhash Sudha, BV Ramana Reddy Director NIT, Rejesh Goyal Secretary Technical Education, KU Registrar Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Manjula Chaudhary, Deans, Directors, Chairpersons & Teachers, staff and students were present.
