    – Hon’ble Governor addresses 4th convocation ceremony of Chaudhary Bansi Lal University as the Chief Guest

Chandigarh, May 1, 2025: Governor of Haryana and Chancellor of Chaudhary Bansi Lal University Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Thursday said that education is not merely about acquiring academic knowledge, but also a form of devoted practice. Lifelong learning is the essence of this sadhana. There is no time limit to learning, he emphasized. He urged students to remain disciplined, committed to continuous learning, hard work, and to cultivate a positive mindset—qualities that contribute to both success and fulfillment.

The Governor was addressing the 4th convocation ceremony of Chaudhary Bansi Lal University in Bhiwani as the Chief Guest. During the ceremony, Shri Dattatraya conferred degrees upon 1,276 students and awarded gold medals to 48 meritorious students, including 43 female students. On behalf of the university, the Governor conferred an honorary doctorate upon Dr Mallika Nadda, President of the South Asian Paralympics, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to society. He also released a commemorative publication highlighting the university’s 10-year journey of growth and development and dedicated a new ambulance to the university.

In his convocation address, Governor Shri Dattatraya stressed that the purpose of education is not merely to obtain a degree—it is meant to shape us into better human beings and instill in us a sense of responsibility towards society. “A degree is not just a piece of paper, it represents your hard work, discipline, and knowledge,” he said. “It is the foundation upon which you will build your future.” He encouraged the graduating students to embrace this new chapter of their lives with courage, acknowledging that the journey ahead may be challenging, but they must not fear adversity.

He paid tribute to former Chief Minister late Chaudhary Bansi Lal, stating that his name is remembered with great respect in the making of a developed Haryana. He is considered the architect of modern Haryana, under whose leadership the state achieved remarkable progress in industrial development and infrastructure. This university, named in his honour, symbolizes his enduring vision centered on education, innovation, and social upliftment. The Governor commended the university for establishing a distinctive identity in a relatively short time.

Praising the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, the Governor remarked that Haryana has already implemented the New Education Policy (NEP) in 2025, ahead of the national timeline of 2030. He also noted that the Start-up India initiative launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has significantly increased women’s participation in the start-up ecosystem.

The Haryana government, he said, has taken numerous initiatives for the welfare of women entrepreneurs. Highlighting the rapid growth of the IT and start-up sectors in India, the Governor said that by 2030, the IT sector is expected to generate ten crore (100 million) job opportunities. He encouraged students to seize these opportunities not only to build their own careers but also to create employment for others.

He appealed to students to take advantage of government schemes like Start-up India and Stand-up India, and to consider launching new ventures and adopting self-employment to become job providers rather than job seekers.

Minister of State for Sports Gaurav Gautam stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, the government is focusing on providing world-class sports facilities to athletes. In addition to the entire state, Bhiwani district will also receive all possible support for sports infrastructure. He proudly noted that Bhiwani has earned global recognition through its sporting achievements, and whenever the world speaks of sports, the name of Haryana invariably follows.

During the event, Vice Chancellor Prof Deepti Dharmani shared that the university is placing a strong emphasis on skill development for students. It has designed a curriculum focused on personality development and character building, which has been adopted by several universities across the country. As part of its commitment to sustainable development, the university has adopted five villages, where it has established libraries and reading rooms.

The ceremony was also attended by Lok Sabha MP Shri Chaudhary Dharambir Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Smt Kiran Choudhary, Bawani Khera MLA Shri Kapoor Singh Valmiki, and Prof Kailash Chandra Sharma, Chairman of the State Higher Education Council, who addressed and encouraged the students.
