Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya felicitating corona warriors at the Sukhna Lake Vaccination Centre, Chandigarh
Shri Dattatraya said that so far more than 138 crore vaccines have been administered across the country out of which 83 crore people have been covered with the first dose and more than 55 crore people with the second dose. Haryana and Chandigarh have done a remarkable job on the front of vaccination. So far 3.13 crore doses have been given in Haryana. Of these, about two crore people have been covered with the first dose and 1.13 crore people with the second dose.
The Governor said that there are encouraging figures of vaccination in Chandigarh as well. With the help of social institutions, more than 16 lakh doses of vaccines have been given, he said. Lauding the role of social organisations in carrying out the vaccination drive, Shri Dattatraya said 81666 centres have been established for vaccination in the whole country, out of which over 11,000 centres are being run with the help of social organizations.
“It is because of the concerted efforts of government officials, doctors, paramedical staff, social workers, organizations, the Red Cross Society and corona warriors that India has been able to tame the coronavirus. Whenever any kind of natural calamity has come upon humanity, all of us have risen to the occasion irrespective of our caste and religion,” said Shri Dattatraya.
Today’s program was organised by UT Chandigarh Health Department, Karan Gilhotra Foundation, United Sikhs and ASR Foundation to mark the success of 20,000 vaccination coverage from the centre at the city’s iconic Sukhna Lake.
On this occasion, Shri Vinay Pratap Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, gave detailed information about the corona vaccination in the city. Shri Karan Gilhotra, chairman, Karan Gilhotra Foundation, also shared his thoughts on the occasion.
