Haryana Governor-Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has congratulated the scientists of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University for developing the pedal operated maize sheller machine
Haryana Governor-Chancellor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya has congratulated the scientists of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, for developing the pedal-operated maize sheller machine. This pedal-operated maize sheller machine has also been patented by the Government of India, which will ensure that the dream of ‘Local to Global’ comes true.
Appreciating the path-breaking efforts of CCSHAU scientists, Shri Dattatraya on Tuesday said that by inventing new technology and tools used in the field of agriculture, they have made farming much simpler and even a low-cost affair for small and marginal farmers.
By designing and patenting innovative farm equipment, students who are pursuing education in the field of agriculture will be able to make a mark in the field of entrepreneurship as well once they complete their education, said Shri Dattatraya.
“The achievement of HAU scientists and students is a matter of tireless efforts, their skills, and hard work. Getting farm equipment developed by them patented by the Government of India is an achievement of the university,” said Governor-Chancellor Shri Dattatraya.
He said that by taking maximum advantage of Central Government’s National Food Security Mission, Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization, and NABARD’s schemes, the equipment can be provided to farmers at affordable rates, which will reduce the cost of cultivation and increase farmers’ income.
Lauding the ambiance of research and development in the university, Shri Dattatraya said that their research work will prove to be a milestone in the development of the agriculture sector. He called upon all scientists to develop techniques to make affordable and world-class equipment in their institutions and market them globally.
It is worth mentioning that the team of Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh retired professor Dr. Mukesh Garg and student Vinay Kumar of the Processing and Food Engineering Department of the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology of the university has designed and developed the unique maize sheller machine.
According to Dr. Amarjeet Kalra, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, the use of the machine will be very beneficial for small farmers with less landholdings. This machine will help in preparing the seeds of maize because the grains extracted by it break only up to one percent and its hourly efficiency is also from 55 to 60 kg.
CCSHAU Vice-Chancellor Prof BR Kamboj said that the cooperation of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is proving a big boon for agricultural research works on the campus.
He said that the continuous achievements of HAU are the result of the tireless hard work being done by scientists and students. With their research, the design of more than a dozen tools used in agriculture has been patented.
