Panchkula, November 10: Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh exhorted the youth to take a pledge to walk on the path shown by Swami Vivekananda- the path of strength, service, and self-belief- in building an inclusive Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said that the teachings of Swami Vivekananda offer timeless guidance and urged everyone to serve not just themselves but also the poorest, weakest, and most neglected sections of society.

Prof. Ghosh was addressing the Youth Convention held at St. Swami Vivekanand Millennium School, HMT Pinjore, today. Lady Governor Smt. Mitra Ghosh , MLA, Kalka Smt. Shakti Rani Sharma and Secretary to Governor Sh. D.K. Behera were also present on the occasion. Earlier, the Governor paid floral tributes at the statue of Goddess Saraswati Ji.

The Governor expressed his delight at being part of the event organized by an institution inspired by the ideals of one of the greatest youth icons of India, Swami Vivekananda Ji.

He said that India today stands at the threshold of a historic transformation. As the nation marches towards the centenary of its Independence in 2047, the dream of a Viksit Bharat, a developed, self-reliant, and inclusive India is no longer a distant aspiration but a collective mission. “At the heart of this mission stands you , the youth of India,” he emphasized.

Governor Prof. Ghosh said that Swami Vivekananda believed the strength of a nation lies not in its wealth or weapons, but in the character, confidence, and commitment of its youth. True progress, he added, is achieved when no one is left behind. This is the essence of inclusive development and last-mile delivery.

He highlighted that Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has envisioned a new India where education becomes the foundation of empowerment and transformation. The National Education Policy (NEP)–2020, he said, is a landmark reform aimed at nurturing not just well-informed minds, but well-formed characters – confident, creative, and compassionate citizens who think globally and act locally.

The youth are being encouraged to become job creators rather than job seekers, to use technology for social good, and to build a future rooted in Indian values yet open to the world,” the Governor added.

The Governor said that Swami Vivekananda’s message was not only about spiritual awakening but also about nation-building. Quoting him, he said, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.” For this generation, he said, that goal is a developed, equitable, and compassionate India where prosperity reaches every doorstep.

He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana has been at the forefront of implementing transformative educational and youth empowerment initiatives from skill development programs to digital learning and innovation hubs setting an example for the nation.

Later, Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh distributed blankets to the poor and usable items to underprivileged children. He also released the 24th edition of the school magazine.
