Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya honoured 93 teachers for their outstanding work in the field of education on the occasion of Teacher’s Day at Indradhanush Auditorium, Panchkula
Chandigarh, September 5, 2022: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, on Monday honoured 93 teachers for their outstanding work in the field of education. They were honoured at the state level function organized by the School Education Department at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector 5 in Panchkula.
The Governor also launched the ‘School Education Haryana’s Health and Treatment’ (SEHAT) scheme. Education Minister Shri Kanwar Pal and Ambala Lok Sabha MP Shri Ratanlal Kataria were also present on the occasion.
Extending his greetings and best wishes to teachers and awardees on Teacher’s Day, Shri Dattatraya said that today the whole country was remembering eminent diplomat, scholar and an ideal teacher and former President Bharat Ratna Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. As a teacher, he did a great job for all-round development of children.
The Governor said that educated and healthy children are the future of the country. In order to ensure their good health, a new school health scheme – SEHAT – has been launched today under the Ayushman Bharat program.
Under this scheme, health check-ups of 25 lakh school children will be done twice a year from the coming academic session. The data collected in the test will be linked to the e-Upchar portal, which will make a child’s digital health record available at any location.
Recalling his student life, he said that he still remembers his physics teacher Sri Ramaiah Garu and Telugu teacher Late Shri Sheshcharya. They were ideal teachers whose words have left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of their students.
Shri Dattatraya said that the inspiration and values given by his gurus have played an important role in his journey till he became the Governor. He called upon the teachers to teach good values to children along with bookish knowledge.
Education Minister Shri Kanwar Pal said that the Haryana government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal has taken several steps for qualitative improvement in education. Haryana is probably the first state not only in the country but in the world where 5 lakh tabs were provided free of cost to the students and teachers of Class 10th and 12th.
Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, Dr Mahavir Singh said that the State Teacher Award Ceremony could not be organized in the last two years due to Covid-19. He congratulated the teachers that despite Covid-19 pandemic, they ensured through online classes that the teaching of children is not affected.
On this occasion, Director of Elementary and Secondary Education Dr Anshaj Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shri Surendra Pal Singh, former Director of GAIL Smt Banto Kataria and teachers from all over the state were present.
