Governor-Chancellor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya, while conferring degrees on 625 students of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST)
Chandigarh, April 29, 22: Haryana Governor-Chancellor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya, while conferring degrees on 625 students of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST) on Friday, said that a large number of girl students are passing out from colleges and universities, which is a positive sign for the country and the state.
“As many as 625 students including 70 Gold Medals were awarded degrees in today’s convocation of DCRUST. Nearly half of these degree holders are girls. What is even more satisfying is the fact that the number of girls getting Post-Graduate and PhD degrees is higher than boys. It proves that today girls are marching ahead in every field of life,” he said.
Lauding the country’s new National Education Policy, Shri Dattatraya said that knowledge, skills and moral values imbibed by the students during their education will prove to be helpful for their progress and prosperity of the nation. The country and the society have a lot of expectations from the youth because they have new ideas and innovative approaches to do things in a better manner, he said.
Shri Dattatraya said that today in the era of technology and digitization, there are immense employment opportunities for students in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, block chain, smart boards, hand operated computing devices, adaptive computer testing, and cyber services, cyber security and other sectors. To take advantage of these possibilities, a provision has also been made in the Union Budget to spend Rs 80 thousand crores for the technology sector.
Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, Shri Anand Mohan Sharan, while congratulating the students who got the degree, praised the university for its remarkable contribution in the field of research work. MP Shri Ramesh Kaushik also praised the university. University Vice Chancellor Prof Rajendra Kumar Anayat gave a brief account of the achievements of the university on the occasion. MLAs Shri Mohan Lal Badoli, Smt Nirmal Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Shri Lalit Siwach and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
