Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya paying homage to Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on their martyrdom day at Karnal
Chandigarh, March 23, 2022: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya on Wednesday stressed the need for imbibing the ideals of great martyrs like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev to build a strong and inclusive India. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the National Youth Convention in Karnal. He also inaugurated a mega blood donation camp on the occasion and paid his tributes to martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
“They sacrificed their lives for the pride and freedom of the country. Our history is full of stories of our brave martyrs. The day of March 23 can never be forgotten in Indian history. Our brave heroes were hanged by the tyrannical British government,” he said, adding that today the country is proudly remembering them. The event had been organized by the National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists (NIFAA).
Shri Dattatraya said that by taking inspiration from our martyrs, our youth need to be prepared to make all kinds of sacrifices for the country. India is recognized in the world as a country of youth. There are more than sixty five crore youth in the age group of 35 years, he said.
“Youth are being motivated to start new startups. They are being provided with proper education and technology expertise to ensure their participation in the progress of the country. That is why today the world is looking towards new India with hope and expectation,” he said.
The Governor said the Central government has formulated the National Youth Policy. On the same lines, the Haryana government has also formulated a new Youth Policy. Programs like National Youth Empowerment and Khelo India have been started by the Central government. In the budget of 2022-23, the Central government has made a provision of more than one thousand crore rupees for Khelo India alone.
Shri Dattatraya also presented citations and mementos to 27 youth who were invited from across the country on the occasion. Two youths from Japan – Isuko Nandi, Fusako Fujiwara, and Karnal SDM Gaurav Kumar were also honoured by the Governor with citations for donating blood.
Karnal MP Shri Sanjay Bhatia welcomed the Governor. He appealed to the youth to stay away from the evil of drugs and should adopt sports and other activities to stay fit and fine. NIFAA president Preetpal Singh Pannu also welcomed the Governor.
