Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji sacrificed his life for safeguarding religion, society: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya
Chandigarh, November 24, 2021: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya today visited historic Gurudwara Nada Sahib on the pious occasion of Martyrdom of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and offered his obeisance. He also paid his humble homage to 9th Sikh Guru Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, terming his martyrdom as an act of supreme sacrifice for safeguarding religion and society.
The Governor said that Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was a thinker, spiritual person, patriot and a brave warrior. He said that Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji after the establishment of Sikhism by Guru Nanak Dev ji, made efforts to create awareness in society keeping in mind the social evils like superstition, untouchability and caste-system.
Shri Dattatraya said that in order to protest against the conversion during the regime of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, he sacrificed his life. “Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji sacrificed his life for the sake of religion, country and society.”
The Governor called upon the youth to follow the path shown by Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji and create awareness in society for drug de-addiction, non-violence and adopting inclusive approach.
Shri Dattatraya said that he was happy to know that thousands of people were fed through ‘langar’ by Nada Sahib Gurdwara with dedication during the Covid-19 induced pandemic. He expressed the hope that this Gurdwara would continue to help the people in the future as well.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shri Mohammad Imran Raza, IPS, SDM Richa Rathi, HCS Tehsildar Punya Deep Sharma, Manager of Nada Sahib Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Sardar Malkit Singh, Treasurer Shri Amritpal Singh, and Head Granthi of Gurdwara Nada Sahib Sardar Jagjit Singh were also present on the occasion.
